RUF at the EMO trade fair 2025

There are many reasons to briquette the chips produced during metalworking. In addition to high cost-effectiveness, this protects the environment and conserves resources, while also reducing logistical costs. High-quality briquetting systems are a prerequisite for this. At EMO 2025 in Hall 11, Booth A18, Ruf Maschinenbau will be presenting two variants for different requirements: a flexible Formika and a stationary RUF 15.

No matter how large the quantities of metal chips produced by a manufacturing plant are, briquetting is almost always worthwhile. The key factors are primarily the correct design and size of the briquetting plant. At EMO 2025, Ruf Maschinenbau GmbH & Co KG, Zaisertshofen, will offer all visitors the opportunity to see the design and quality of its hydraulic presses for themselves at its 50 square metre booth (Hall 11/A18). In addition, experts from the company will be on hand to explain the differences between and preferred areas of application for various machine types.

First of all: all RUF machines have high quality results and efficiency in common. There are significant differences in throughput, which can be up to 5,000 kg/hour. The RUF Formika on display achieves significantly less – with steel chips averaging 50 to 70 kg/hour (max. 100 kg/hour) and with aluminium chips 20 to 30 kg/hour (max. 40 kg/hour). These modern briquetting systems have other strengths: they only require around one square metre of space (including the control cabinet) and, thanks to castors and a weight of only 650 kg, can be quickly and easily moved to any location. They can also be easily connected directly to various types of machine tools.

They are also powerful. With its energy-efficient 2.2 kW motor, the Formika generates a specific pressing pressure of 1,300 kg/cm2. This enables it to reliably separate the cooling fluids adhering to the chips, resulting in an average residual moisture content of only three percent in the briquettes.

With the RUF 15, the Zaisertshofen-based company is also exhibiting a differently designed medium-sized metal press that is specially designed for aluminium. The hydraulic motor has an output of 15 kW, achieves a pressing pressure of up to 1700 kg/cm2 and produces rectangular aluminium briquettes in the format 150 x 60 mm. The throughput capacity of this machine is 400 to 500 kg/h, which corresponds to approximately 300 briquettes per hour.

Are briquetting solutions for chips from other metals/alloys and in other quantities required? No problem. RUF always has a suitable briquetting plant in its portfolio. All of them – like the machines shown at EMO – are designed for fully automatic 24/7 operation.

At EMO 2025, RUF Maschinenbau (Hall 11/A18) will be presenting its flexible RUF Formika and the medium-sized RUF 15. In addition, various metal chips and associated briquettes will be on display behind a viewing window.
