RUF Maschinenbau at Intec 2023 (Hall 3, booth A29)

Briquetting pays off in many ways

Early March will see the launch of Intec 2023, a key European meeting of the metalworking sectors. RUF Maschinenbau GmbH & Co KG will be there too and will be presenting at its booth A29 in Hall 3 two quality briquetting systems that will be demonstrating their fast payback rates for the metalworking segments.

Metal chips and their coolant freight are not bothersome residue, but valuable raw materials. In the train of the sustainability drive, this idea has become firmly entrenched in minds and business policies. Important here, however, is how to handle the wet chips properly. High-quality briquetting systems offer the right approach. A leader in this sector, RUF Maschinenbau of Zaisertshofen provides a wide range of machinery with capacities as high as several thousand kilograms per hour.

This internationally acclaimed family enterprise will be presenting two compact briquetting systems at Intec 2023. In addition to a RUF 4, trade visitors will also see the smallest unit, a RUF Formika, in action. With integrated switch cabinet, this claims a volume of only 1.3 m length, 0.8 m width, and 0.9 m height.

Yet it can achieve, depending on the material and chip geometry, capacities as high as 100 kg/h and produce volumes a tenth to a fifteenth of the original bulk (aluminium). In the case of steel, this is a fifth to a tenth. In addition, trapped coolant is extracted under the machine’s pressing action and collects in a tray where an integrated coolant pump conveys it to external receptacles.

Also presented will be the RUF 4. Differing clearly in its look from the Formika, it requires a little more space, claiming a 2.0–2.5 square-metre footprint and approx 2.0 m height. Yet thanks to its higher motor performance, it can be configured for greater custom capacities and produces briquettes of higher density.

Also high quality and availability requirements are fulfilled by both the RUF 4 and the Formika, not to mention all other RUF briquetting presses as well. All systems have been designed for 24/7 operations, leading to even further reductions in payback times.
