RUF at LIGNA 2023

Briquetting wood debris – sustainably and profitably

RUF Group briquetting systems at LIGNA 2023 in Hall 25, booth J49

Although this year’s LIGNA 2023 will be focusing on wood from May 15 to 19, this won’t be exclusively on how this valuable resource is processed. Also how wood debris can yield the most has never before been so important. And organised accordingly are the presentations by the briquetting experts, the world market leader RUF Maschinenbau and its subsidiary C.F. Nielsen, at their booth J49 in Hall 25, including the RUF 1200 and BP7510, the latest creations from the world of briquetting systems.

The hydraulic and mechanical briquetting innovations by RUF Maschinenbau and C.F. Nielsen together constitute the world’s largest single-source portfolio. In other words: No matter the capacity, chip geometry, or material type, there is a solution for virtually all. The briquetting specialists from Zaisertshofen in Bavaria and Bælum in Denmark can provide these solutions from their hydraulic and mechanical ranges.

The Group’s systems can process not only wood, but biomass and other debris as well. Their capacities range from 30 to 4000 kg/h. The optimal technology from case to case can be determined only in talks with the company’s experts. At LIGNA 2023, they will be available to trade visitors at all times when they can demonstrate the functions and all key properties on the exhibited systems.

Among others of its products, RUF will be presenting its new RUF 1200 for 240 ×70 mm briquettes. Thanks to its revised hydraulics, this machine now exhibits a power consumption 25% less than its predecessor RUF 1100+, with a slightly higher performance. It then produces more than 640 briquettes an hour, each weighing 1.7 kg. In addition, the company will be presenting its RUF R6 from its standardised LIGNUM series for wood. Every hour, this system converts about 670 kg into approximately 780 briquettes.

The BP7510HD by the RUF subsidiary C.F. Nielsen represents this company’s most powerful mechanical press. It features a dual charger with a maximum capacity of 3500 kg/h. The system is therefore ideal for the high-performance production of briquettes for the industry and home consumers. These briquettes can be either round with diameters up to 120 mm or square with 100 mm sides.

About the company:

A leader on the global market, the RUF Group offers end-to-end briquetting solutions ranging from 30 to 4000 kg/h.

Based in Zaisertshofen, the company RUF Maschinenbau was founded by Hans Ruf in 1969. Today his sons, Roland and Wolfgang Ruf, are at the helm. About 150 employees worldwide develop and produce highly innovative, modular briquetting systems for wood, metal, and other residuals. Fitted with a 4 kW motor, the smallest wood press of the type SZ1+ achieves a capacity of 30–60 kg/h. The most powerful system, the RUF 1200 can handle over a tonne of briquettes an hour. The first RUF briquetting press was presented and sold to a timber processor in 1985. And this is still fully operable today: living proof of RUF stability and durability. Today there are over 6000 RUF briquetting systems operating in over 100 countries.

C.F. Nielsen can look back on a history extending over more than 129 years. It all began in 1889 with its founder Carl Frederik Nielsen at the local smithy in Bælum, Denmark. Today, C.F. Nielsen adopts a leading, world acclaimed role as an expert in the field of mechanical briquetting technologies. In 2018, the company was taken over by the RUF Group.
