FAQ

Briquetting is the ideal and sustainable alternative for a more efficient handling of production residues. By reducing their volume, you save space, as well as time and costs for handling, storage and transport, while also earning higher revenues! Furthermore, by briquetting metal chips, you recover expensive cooling lubricants and potentially achieve a higher smelting yield.

Amortisation periods can be less than three years, in certain cases even less than 1 year. However, the amortisation period depends on the material to be made into briquettes and the quantity. Thanks to the reduction in volume, costs for transport, storage and handling are cut. The amortisation period can be further reduced through the sale of the briquettes and the recovery of coolants.

We have many years of experience in briquetting which means that our experts are well-qualified to provide you with professional advice in choosing the right briquette press. We work with you to identify your individual requirements on the basis of the material in question and the production conditions. This then allows us to offer you custom-made briquetting machines or even complete briquetting solutions.

We always try to find the best possible briquetting solution. Our range has therefore been specifically developed for certain materials, production conditions or marketing purposes of the briquettes. Our experts will be happy to advise you with respect to processing several different materials with one briquetting machine.

In addition to our briquette presses, we also offer additional peripheral equipment, such as conveyors, silos or chip hoppers. These allow the material flow of your chips to be optimised, and RUF peripheral devices can also be used to enable the briquetting of your chips to be fully-automated. Your briquette press will always be individually custom-made in accordance with your specific requirements.

In the case of long, woolly chips, it may be necessary to crush the starting material beforehand. In this case, we can offer complete solutions together with the relevant suppliers. With our free pressing test, we can establish whether your starting material can be briquetted or whether it needs to be crushed beforehand.

Due to their compact construction, our systems do not take up much space. The size of the machine will depend on the material to be made into briquettes, the quantity and, in accordance with this, the maximum throughput of the briquetting machine.

RUF briquette presses are very robust and are known for having a low level of wear and tear. Some of our systems have been in use for more than 25 years.

RUF briquetting machines are an attractive proposition for customers because of their low level of wear and tear and their robustness. Maintenance costs are very low, but depend on the material used. If parts subject to wear need to be replaced, they can be ordered directly from our spare parts warehouse. Our service engineers are available for support all over the world. As well as replacing worn parts, we can also offer a complete general overhaul of your system and will be happy to advise you on the advantages of our individually-tailored maintenance contracts.

RUF has a very extensive spare parts warehouse. All of the parts made in-house for all of the RUF briquette presses produced to date are available in our own in-house construction and parts production departments. You will therefore benefit from many years of availability of spare parts. You can place your orders for spare parts at Teile@brikettieren.de.

At your request, you can be present at the test pressing in our Technical Centre and you can get advice from our experts. Furthermore, you will receive a detailed pressing report and will be given the briquettes made during the test pressing.

For a maximum rental period of 4 weeks, a briquette press can be rented for test purposes. This allows you to test the machine in your own production environment. Longer rental periods may be arranged on an individual basis in specific cases.

As an expert in briquetting with many years of experience, we will be happy to advise you on the sales and marketing opportunities for your briquettes.

In general, almost all materials can be made into briquettes. However, the chip particles should not be bigger than 50mm. The chips should not contain any impurities. For Wood & Biomass the moisture content should be less than 12 % (max 15 %).

Thanks to our innovative RUF hydraulics, our briquetting presses are very energy efficient, with a low level of electricity consumption in relation to their briquetting performance.

Briquetting can be worthwhile even with very small quantities of chips. Briquette presses with a lower throughput should be considered here. Depending on the material, our systems can make economic sense in these cases too. Our specialists will be happy to advise you!

The costs of a briquette press depend on various factors, such as the starting material, required throughput and briquette density. Our experts will be happy to advise you on a one-to-one basis and can draw up a non-binding quote.

We occasionally have used machines in stock. After an overhaul and repair, we offer them for sale. If we have any used machines available, we would be happy to quote you a price.

We will be happy to check whether there are any machines in your area that you can view for reference purposes.

Test pressing is done free of charge and without any obligation on your part, and is carried out in our Technical Centre using your own material. At your request, you can be present at the test pressing. The results are important for the choice of the briquetting machine – for example, briquette thickness, residual moisture, durability to withstand handling, the amount of cooling lubricants recovered, etc. The procedure: Here.
